By NANCY WEST, InDepthNH.org
We are very happy to be publishing our online nonprofit news outlet featuring the most experienced and talented reporters and columnists in the state and working on our big party to celebrate our 10th anniversary.
We are also thrilled to encourage all other news outlets to share our excellent reporting for free by using the “Republish This Story” link at the end of every story as we have been doing this year, and started out doing.
So all news outlets can benefit from your generous donations. We think this is especially important as the future of all news outlets is in danger.
We barely scraped by our first few years, but because of your generous donations, we are growing fast, but we need to do more.
That’s why we are looking to hire a director of development, someone experienced to handle our fundraising and grant writing. We also want to hire an assistant editor so I can do what I do best – that is news reporting.
It has been awesome learning – often the hard way – how to grow a nonprofit news outlet, but it is time to hire professionals at the helm. I’ve done the best I can and will continue to do so until we find the right people. Then I will return to full-time reporting.
I was talking to an expert in growing new nonprofit news sites and found out we should have had two years of operating expenses in the bank before launching.
Who knew? We had no money, but we did have the passion and hard work of a lot of people to put out the daily news and a wonderful strong board behind us.
I am looking for your help again:
* Help us find a director of development to help build a financially sustainable news future.
* Help us find an assistant editor.
* Become an underwriter.
* Remind your local news outlet they can republish our news stories for free, then buy a subscription to your paper and make a donation to InDepthNH.org.
What are the job descriptions? Easy. The successful candidates will be the best at what they do and understand the importance that ethics and experience play in delivering the news to our growing readership in New Hampshire.

Put a bumper sticker on your car and come to one of the events we are planning to celebrate. (More information to come.) Email me your names and snail mail address and I’ll send you our bumper stickers.
It has been a joyful 10 years I can tell you and truly meaningful. Every day I am reminded how important it is for people to know what their elected and appointed officials and other powerful people are doing.
It really is now or never, and we do not intend to stop.
My motto is Don’t Let the Bastards Win, and frankly they are winning as I write this. We can all stop it, but not unless we are all well informed.
Help us keep New Hampshire informed, please.
