Join us for an exciting Zoom event that celebrates the power of storytelling and publishing. Discover how stories shape our understanding of the world and connect us as human beings. Whether you’re a writer, reader, or simply curious about the creative process, this event is for you! Our panelists include Masheri Chappelle, the New Hampshire Writers’ Project Board of Trustees Chair and Indie Publisher, Jean Duffy, author of Soccer Grannies, Bev Stohl, author of Chomsky & Me, and Laura Beretsky, author of Seizing Control, Managing Epilepsly and Others’ Reactions to It.
Masheri Chappelle is a New Hampshire Writers’ Project Chair and member. A Smith Scholar graduate of Smith College, she received her B.A. in theater and writing. She is a Data Analyst by day, an intuitive consultant, a story guide, and an award-winning author and playwright by night. She is also an Indie Publisher and owner of Portalstar Publishing.
Jean Duffy is a nonfiction writer with published essays in the Boston Globe, Concord Monitor, Lexington Minuteman, Packington Review, Somerville Journal, Stamford Advocate, and WBUR Cognoscenti. Soccer Grannies: The South African Women Who Inspire the World (Rowman & Littlefield, 2023) is her first book. Jean can be found on the soccer field in Lexington, Massachusetts where her team, the Lexpressas, have been playing for some twenty years.
Bev Stohl is a nonfiction writer with published essays in The Chronicle of Higher Education, the MIT Press, Stethoscopes and Pencils, Chomsky.info, and on Reddit and other social media. Chris Lydon interviewed Bev on his Open Source radio show. Chomsky and Me: A Memoir (OR Books, 2023) is the story of her 24 years as assistant to Noam Chomsky, MIT Linguistics Professor Emeritus, human rights and political activist, philosopher, and cognitive scientist.
Laura Beretsky is a writer based in Somerville, Mass., whose work has appeared in Health Story Collaborative, The National Library of Poetry, WBUR’s Cognoscenti, Sisyphus, and Wire’s Dream magazines. Seizing Control: Managing Epilepsy and Others’ Reactions to It (Haley’s Publishing, 2023) is her first book.
