Editor’s note: The number of COVID-19 deaths this week doubled over the last reported week from 6 to 12 and hospitalizations stayed about the same with 24 last week. An email to NH DHHS, Dr. Ben Chan and Gov. Chris Sununu’s spokespeople today asking if the predicted surge is here and how people should respond to the increase in deaths this week went unanswered. Earlier in the day before the state released this week’s COVID-19 numbers at 4 p.m., DHHS spokesman Jake Leon did provide the following email:
“The new booster formulation is intended to provide enhanced protection from the COVID-19 variants currently circulating. Given the potential for a fall surge, the new boosters offer the best protection for residents from exposure and reduce the risk of community transmission in our state.

On Thursday, September 29, 2022, the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced 1,727 new positive COVID-19 test results between Thursday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 28.
For the previous week, DHHS announce 12 additional deaths related to COVID-19. (Last week the state reported 6 new COVID-19 deaths.) We offer our sympathies to the family and friends.
There are currently 25 hospitalized patients being treated for COVID-19. In New Hampshire, since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 350,117 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed.
