The Manchester Police Department and Manchester Fire Department announce the arrest of a
Manchester man for an arson that occurred at 361 Hevey St. on July 10, 2022. The fire displaced
all residents of the three story building and resulted in an estimated $500,000 in damage.

Nearly 100 firefighters were required to extinguish the large, 2-alarm fire. A dog was located deceased
during a search of the building and some occupants suffered injuries.

A joint investigation conducted by the Manchester Police Department and the Manchester Fire
Department determined the fire was deliberately set and the official cause was arson.
As alleged in the arrest affidavit, investigators determined a resident of the apartment, 37-year-old Anthony Cote, started the fire intentionally. Cote, who resides in the building, is believed to
have set the fire within his apartment by lighting a chair on fire. The fire then spread to the
entire building.
Cote was arrested on July 15, 2022, was held on preventative detention, and was arraigned,
yesterday, July 18, 2022 in Hillsborough County Superior Court. At the arraignment, the court
ordered the preventative detention to continue. He is charged with Arson (a Class A Felony) and
Cruelty to Animals (a Class A Misdemeanor).
These charges are only allegations. Cote is presumed to be innocent unless proven guilty beyond
a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
