The New Hampshire Center for Public Interest Journalism is proud to announce Lucy K. Wyman of Lancaster has joined our board of directors.

The Center publishes the nonprofit online daily news outlet InDepthNH.org.

Wyman joins board members George Bald, Rick Gagliuso, Bob Charest, Gloria Norris, Steve Taylor, Gina Gilmore, Laurie Storey and Robin Mulcahy.

“We are thrilled to have Lucy Wyman join our board as she brings a strong North Country voice to our group,” said InDepthNH.org founder Nancy West. “She has a strong understanding of the history of the North Country as well. Wyman has also run a business and had many life and travel experiences that will help us as we work to find a sustainable path for news in New Hampshire.”

Wyman describes herself as “accomplished at living,” and while well-travelled has for most of her life made the North Country of New Hampshire her home.

Her first “house” was a small camp without power or phone from where she ventured forth on her Morgan horse throughout the North Country and White Mountains.

Over the years, Wyman has held myriad jobs including “testing” for the Dairy Herd Improvement Assoc., clerking at a farm and garden store, a stint as a journalist/photographer, assisted care for the elderly, and mediating with families.

Wyman was also a foster parent to four teenagers while part-owner and proprietor of Lost Nation Natural Foods on Main Street in Lancaster.

For 29 years she partnered with Craig Harmon, during nineteen of which he was a paralyzed from a car accident. During that time Lucy worked as a personal care assistant to Craig. He died in 2018 at the age of 63.

If you travel the backroads with Wyman, you will get a steady commentary on places, people, culture and philosophy which make it clear this is a woman with strong opinions and a deep love for her native New England.

“I believe in transparency and staying informed, goals that InDepthNH.org has clearly established as well. I hope I can bring something constructive to this admirable endeavor,” Wyman said.
