CONCORD, NH  — Today, Senator Melanie Levesque (D-Brookline) announced her candidacy for New Hampshire Senate District 12, the highly competitive seat she held from 2018 to 2020, currently held by Republican Senator Kevin Avard.

Sen. Levesque is a lifelong resident of the district and a local small business owner, serving as the president of TCS of America Enterprises, a Telecommunications consulting company. Sen. Levesque earned her A.A. from Nashua Community College, B.S. from Daniel Webster College, and M.B.A. from Southern New Hampshire University.

She has served as a member of the Hollis Brookline Co-op School Board, The Endowment for Health Advisory Commission, Town Trustee for Brookline, and Trustee for the Brookline Community Church. In 2003, Sen. Levesque worked to organize a chapter of the NAACP in Nashua. She served six years in the NH House of Representatives beginning in 2006 representing Hollis, Brookline, and Mason.

Sen. Levesque released the following statement alongside this announcement:

“I am honored to run to represent Senate District 12, from my hometown of Nashua through Hollis, Mason, Greenville, Rindge, New Ipswich, and Brookline where I reside. Since I was a child, New Hampshire has been my home, and it was the honor of a lifetime to represent these towns in the New Hampshire State Senate in 2018.

It pains me to see the place I love so dearly treated as little more than a drain on resources by extreme far right forces in this state. And when they aren’t treating our community like a burden, they are ignoring us. New Hampshire Republican legislators are dismantling our public schools, which is where opportunity itself begins for every child. They treat women as if  they live in the 1900s and should vote and act accordingly. They do absolutely nothing to make our streets safer while they run campaigns telling us we should be afraid of each other.

“If it wasn’t for this community, and places like Broad Street School in Nashua, I would not be here today. I owe the people of Senate District 12 too much to sit on the sidelines. I look forward to being the ear and voice this community deserves as we retake this seat in November.”
