Editor’s note: The following is the news release issued by the Attorney General’s Office Monday. It is believed to be the first time the public has been allowed to call in to an officer-involved shooting briefing, but the spokesman didn’t respond to questions from InDepthNH.org regarding the change.

Deputy Attorney General Jane E. Young announces that a press briefing will be held on March 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the NH Fire Academy Administration Building, 98 Smokey Bear Blvd., Concord, NH.

The findings will be released regarding the officer-involved shooting that took place on October 19, 2020, in Thornton, New Hampshire, in which Police Officer Matthew Yao shot and killed Ethan Freeman (age 37).  The briefing will include police video recordings of the encounter between Mr. Freeman and Officer Yao.

A copy of the final report and the video recordings presented at the briefing will be available on the website, https://www.doj.nh.gov/news/2021, at the start of the briefing.

PLEASE BE ADVISED: The videos that will be available contain graphic content with respect to the language that is used and the events captured by the police body camera video.

Members of the public are able to attend the briefing remotely:

·         Call-in: 1-800-201-6394

·         Conference Code: 19465

Members of the media may attend remotely using the above call-in information, or may attend in person, however, capacity is limited due to COVID-19 restrictions.
