CONCORD – The state Department of Health and Human Services said on Wednesday that five more people – all men – have died from COVID-19 bringing the total deaths to 32, according to a news release.
Mike Todd of the Office of Public Information said none of the new five deaths were people who lived in long-term care facilities.
Three of the men who died were younger than age 60, one from Merrimack County, one from Hillsborough County and one from Rockingham County. The state has previously reported only one other man younger than 60 who died from COVID-19 and that man lived in Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Facility and had underlying health issues.
The other two men who whose deaths were reported Wednesday were older than 60; one in Hillsborough County and one in Rockingham County.
The state also announced Wednesday 53 new positive tests bringing the total to 1,139.
Of those, several cases are still under investigation. Any additional information from ongoing investigations will be incorporated into future COVID-19 updates. Of those with complete information, all are adults with 49% being female and 51% being male.
The new cases reside in Rockingham (21), Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (14), Merrimack (5), Cheshire (6), and in the cities of Manchester (5) and Nashua (2). Fifteen new hospitalized cases were identified today for 178 (16%) of 1,139 cases.
Seven of the new cases have no identified risk factors. Community-based transmission continues to increase in the State and has been identified in all counties with cases. Most of the remaining cases have either had travel to domestic or international locations or have had close contact with a person with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis.
