InDepthNH.org has been selected an editor’s pick in New Hampshire Business Review’s 2018 BOB Awards, which honor the Best of Business in New Hampshire in over 90 categories.
“Your company was singled out as an editor’s pick in the category Most Ambitious Effort to Reinvigorate Investigative Journalism,” said Jeff Feingold, editor at New Hampshire Business Review.
All of the winners will be honored at a Roaring 20s-themed event to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on March 22 at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord.
“InDepthNH.org is thrilled to win this awesome BOB Award,” said InDepthNH.org founder Nancy West.
“As a non-profit online news outlet we have a different model that is really catching on in New Hampshire. We give our original investigative and enterprise news stories away for free to news outlets to augment the great work they do,” West said.
New Hampshire has lost more than half of all newspaper jobs since 2000 and InDepthNH.org is working to fill the news gaps by providing indepth stories about important issues by experienced journalists that might otherwise go unreported, West said.
InDepthNH.org is building its donor base, selling ads and seeking underwriters to continue this important work. Last year, the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation awarded InDepthNH.org a $50,000 grant and many individuals donated during our NewsMatch 2017 campaign that helped raise $11,234. That amount was matched by the Fund for Nonprofit News at The Miami Foundation, which was made possible by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation.
The Wyman Family Fund, the Fidelity Fund and the Gov. Wesley Powell Fund have also made generous donations to InDepthNH.org’s work besides our many individual donors, some of who give $5 to $25 a month. And Northeast Delta Dental has been a steadfast supporter through its underwriting.
There are many people who work at InDepthNH.org for free or at rates far below their worth as we grow because they believe in our mission. InDepthNH.org is grateful to Garry Rayno, Bob Charest, Montana West, Chris Jensen and Roger Wood, along with our columnists John Harrigan, Susan Dromey Heeter, Mike Marland, Michael Davidow, D. Maurice Kreis, Monica Drahonovsky, Mark Okrant, Wayne King and our Keene State College intern Sam Whitaker.
“With 3,400 ballots cast for the 2018 Awards, the BOBs continue to be considered a standard of excellence in New Hampshire’s business community,” Feingold said.
Cost to attend the BOB Awards is $40 per person. Group discounts are available for groups of 10+. Register at nhbr.com.
