She grew up poor in a public housing project in Manchester.

But Gloria Norris moved on from a controlling father and uncertain prospects to become an author, screenwriter and producer in Hollywood. Her new book just released is called KooKooLand. Roger Wood spoke to her from her Santa Monica home.
