I’m Roger Wood InDepth, which is underwritten by Northeast Delta Dental. This is National Police Week and U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H. took to the floor to pay tribute to the state’s police officers – both living and dead – for their service.

The former New Hampshire attorney general specifically pointed out the most recent act of violence against two Manchester officers who survived, and, sadly, the murder of two other officers in the state.

Michael Briggs will be one of those memorialized at the law enforcement memorial this Friday. Michael “Stix” Addison was convicted of the officer’s murder in 2006 after being arrested in Dorchester, Mass. Ayotte, in her floor speech, said that she will attend a dedication on Sunday of a community center in Manchester named after him.

Ayotte also brought up the most recent acts of violence against police, also in Manchester.

The state’s Junior Senator struck a passionate tone when she took aim at what she calls the negative rhetoric nationwide about police officers.

Ayotte also read the long list of officers from state and local agencies, saying that she was shocked at how long it is. Their names will also be read this Friday at the New Hampshire law enforcement memorial on the lawn of the Legislative Office Building in Concord. For InDepthNH.org, I’m Roger Wood.
