The Executive Council confirmed Republican Sen. Jerry Little, R-Weare, as Banking Commissioner on Wednesday with the three Republican councilors voting for him and two Democrats voting against him.

The two Democrats, Colin Van Ostern and Chris Pappas, said they voted against Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan’s nominee based on Little’s prior work lobbying for the banking industry.

Republican Councilors Chris Sununu, Joseph Kenney and David Wheeler approved Little to the post that pays $101,789 a year. Little will start in June so he can finish his work this session as a state senator.

There was no mention of an investigation by the National Institute on Money in State Politics that detailed the banking industry’s donations to Little and Hassan published March 17.
