After the last snows melt and before the spring peepers sound, you’ll likely spot some vernal pools, temporary habitat for frogs, salamanders and other creatures that breed there.
Like some of those creatures, the pools dry up, but are a harbinger of warmer weather. Roger Wood, along with his wife, Elaine, took A Walk on the Wild Side, to look for those pools and other wildlife close to the busy Portsmouth urban area.
