Hassan Banks on Little
Banking industry is generous to NH nominee

?HELENA, MT – New Hampshire is preparing for Friday’s nomination hearing for state Sen. Jerry Little to head the state’s Banking Department. That prompted the Institute to look at the investments by the banking industry into Little and into Gov. Maggie Hassan, who appointed him to the position.

The New Hampshire Banking Department regulates commercial banks, savings and loans, and credit unions.

Commercial banking donors were the most generous contributors to Little, who served as president of the New Hampshire Bankers Association prior to being elected to the state senate in 2014. The bankers association gave more to Hassan for her 2014 reelection bid than it has donated to almost any other candidate since 2000.

Altogether, contributions from commercial banks, savings and loans, and credit unions to just two candidates — Little and Hassan — accounted for 58 percent of the banking industry’s total contributions to all 2014 New Hampshire candidates.
