Roger Wood has the latest poll results for the Democratic primary race released by political guru Andy Smith at the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.
The CNN/WMUR poll shows Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders leading former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by a two to one margin.
The just completed poll of 751 randomly selected New Hampshire adults showed if the election were held today, 61 per cent would support Sanders, with 31 per cent favoring the former Secretary of State and first lady, with 8 percent undecided.
One-third of those surveyed said they weren’t definitely committed to a candidate, however.
Sanders leads Clinton among nearly every demographic group. His strongest support comes from voters under 35 (87 percent), registered undeclared voters (69 percent), and voters who have not previously voted in a primary (81 percent.)
The trouble for the Sanders campaign is that younger voters and first-time primary voters are the least likely to show up on election day.
Clinton’s strongest support comes from voters who are 65 and older (45 percent). Sanders also leads Clinton 66 to 34 percent among voters who say they have definitely decided who they will support.
There continues to be a large gender gap with Sanders leading among men by 46 percentage points (71 to 25 percent).
Sanders also leads among women by 19 percentage points. Conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, the poll was funded by CNN and WMUR-TV, Manchester. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.6 per cent.
