LISTEN HERE ….. This Saturday, Sept. 19, you may see fewer tourists on New Hampshire beaches. But that doesn’t mean those beaches will be empty.

More than 2,000 volunteers are expected to participate in the 25th. International Beach Cleanup, which started in Texas.

Since 2001, the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation, has been working on clean-ups on a regular basis.

A few years ago, volunteers collected tens of thousands of filters inadvertently released from a wastewater treatment plant on the Merrimack River.

Most, if not all, have been found. Jen Kennedy is co-founder of the non-profit based in Portsmouth. And Roger Wood spoke to her about this latest effort.
