New Hampshire nursing home residents have been among the hardest hit during the pandemic. The Granite State has experienced most of its deaths in long-term care facilities. InDepthNH.org’s special series A Storm Is Brewing For New Hampshire Nursing Homes examines the pandemic as it has marched its way across the state’s nursing facilities during the past eight months.
Starting Monday, InDepthNH.org examines what is being done now to make sure any second wave is kept away from our state’s most vulnerable residents, including testimony from nursing home experts before a special legislative study committee.
We also look at how nursing homes are ranked. See how your nursing home rates in the quality ranking list published by Medicare.gov, along with the statistics on coronavirus infections in each facility. We also take a look at recent inspection reports for each nursing home, listing infractions that inspectors found on site visits.
The star system (one star for much below average, to five stars for much above average) for our report is the overall quality ranking. Each state has nursing homes designated special focus facilities to get extra attention because of more problems seen in inspections than are seen at other facilities. Our reporting will provide details on these findings.
