I also spent a fair amount of time in Groveton and Stark NH tracking down the life, family and background of Alton Weagle. In the 1950s, Alton was known as Mr. Mount Washington and holds the biggest number of records on the mountain including walking up backwards and pushing up a wheelbarrow of sugar!
When I asked sculptor Debra Weisberg what the exhibit she put together meant, she said: “Why don’t you tell me?”
Scientists sometimes refer to this transition from winter to the growing season as the “vernal window,” and a new study led by the University of New Hampshire shows this window may be opening earlier and possibly for longer.

THE GAY AGENDA: When someone mentions “sex ed,” what comes to mind? Scared-looking teenagers rolling condoms on bananas?
WHY YOU SHOULD CARE NH: I now know how Marvin felt. I think I am becoming Marvin. Not only would no one listen to him, but he thought he had an important story to tell.
JOYFUL MUSINGS: I practically leapt out of my seat, dropped my popcorn and announced, “I KNOW that cereal!”
