On September 16, at approximately 6:45 a.m., Manchester Police were notified of vandalism that had occurred overnight at a downtown business.
Several windows had been broken at the Moka Pot at 8 Hanover St., and offensive language and hate symbols had been spray-painted on the business.
Police learned that people were last known to be at the business at approximately 11:30 p.m., following a comedy show.
Investigators believe the vandalism occurred between midnight and 4 a.m.
“This was more than property damage. It was a deliberate act intended to intimidate and instill fear, and we will not tolerate that in Manchester,” says Manchester Police Chief Peter Marr.
“Our detectives are investigating this incident as a hate crime and are committed to identifying those responsible and holding them accountable for their actions.”
Due to the nature of the graffiti, the New Hampshire Department of Justice Civil Rights Unit was notified. The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Manchester Police at 603-668-8711.
