A 26-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the suspicious death of a female infant whose body was found in Pine Island Pond in Manchester on March 27, 2025, according to a news release from Attorney General John Formella.
Hepay Juma, 26, of Manchester was arrested for alleged reckless second-degree murder for causing the death of Baby Jane “Grace” Doe, her child, under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life, the release said.
The exact circumstances surrounding the death remain under active investigation.
At approximately 4 p.m. on March 27, 2025, Manchester Police responded to a report of a body in the water at Pine Island Park, off Brown Avenue. Responding officers located what appeared to be the body of an infant in the water that day.
