Attorney General John M. Formella and New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall announce further information related to the October 7, 2025, suspicious deaths in Bath, New Hampshire.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., officers of the Bath Police Department responded to 11 Tyler Way in Bath in response to a 911 call regarding shots fired. Upon arriving, Bath Police observed two deceased females, later identified as Cindy Moody (age 67) and her daughter Kristal Moody (age 39). They appeared to have suffered from gunshot wounds.

At the residence, officers discovered Cindy Moody’s brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Readey (age 73) with a firearm. After a short period of time, Mr. Readey was safely detained. An arrest warrant has now been issued for Charles Readey charging him with two counts of Second-Degree Murder, contrary to RSA 630:1-b, I(a), for knowingly causing the death of Kristal Moody and Cindy Moody.

An arraignment is anticipated to be scheduled by the court. Autopsies of Kristal Moody and Cindy Moody are currently scheduled to take place tomorrow by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The charges against Charles Readey are only allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available while protecting the integrity of the investigation.
