GOFFSTOWN, NH – Goffstown church leaders invite the wider community to a presentation on Ukrainian History on Sunday, March 27 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1 E. Union Street. Christina Vogel presents a PowerPoint presentation that will explain how the current situation in Ukraine has evolved over time. There will be a time for Questions and Answers. The program will be recorded and made available for those unable to attend in person.
Christina is a member of Protection of Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Manchester. She will also share prayers for the Ukrainian people.
“As a first-generation American of Ukrainian descent, I learned the history of my family and heritage and the situation in Ukraine feels like a direct attack on my family,” said presenter Christina Vogel, “Though I am a proud American, I never forgot my grandparents’ and parents’ words spoken to me as a child while Ukraine was still part of the Soviet Union, ‘Some day Ukrainians will need you.’ I am here, and I am unspeakably grateful for anyone who comes to learn more about Ukrainian history and culture and how we have arrived at violence and war.”
“As faith leaders in Goffstown, we know that learning each other’s history and culture is one way to love our neighbors as God expects us,” said Rev. Jason Wells, pastor of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Goffstown, “This presentation will help everyone grow in the love, empathy and support so needed by those who are suffering in Ukraine.”
Christina Vogel recently led a peace rally for Ukraine in Concord on Wednesday, March 2. She and Goffstown faith leaders previously led prayer vigils for peace on Thursday, February 24, immediately after the Russian military invasion. Both events were covered in local media.
