More than 100 registered Republicans, former Republicans, and Independents endorsed Chris’s re-election campaign today.
MANCHESTER – On Wednesday, the Chris Pappas for Congress campaign announced more than 100 new endorsements from registered Republicans, former Republicans, and Independents. These leaders from across the state cited Chris’s leadership for New Hampshire and his track record of putting people over politics as their reason for endorsing him.
“We must work together to confront the challenges we face today, which is why I’m encouraged to have the support of Republicans, Democrats, and independents in this race,” said Congressman Chris Pappas. “I’m proud to have worked across the aisle in Congress to deliver for our families, veterans, and small businesses. I remain committed to working with anyone willing to come to the table to solve problems because politics shouldn’t get in the way of results. I thank the more than 100 Granite Staters who are putting country before party in supporting my re-election campaign, and I look forward to continuing to bring people together around solutions.”
“I considered myself a Republican for most of my life, but in recent years the Republican party has lost its way,” said Jamey French, President and CEO of Northland Forest Products, Inc. in Kingston. “I’m a strong supporter of Chris Pappas because he is a reasonable, sensible individual who is determined to listen to people. He is a pragmatic leader who brings people together to support our Main Street businesses and protect our state’s beautiful natural resources so that we can preserve our way of life here in New Hampshire.”
“I served in the Reagan administration and have always and will always be a proud Republican,” said Claira Monier, a Republican who served in the administrations of Republican Governor Thomson and President Reagan, and spent 20 years as the executive director of the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority. “But serving your constituents in Congress must be about more than the party you belong to. I know New Hampshire and I know Chris, and most importantly Chris knows New Hampshire. He has always worked hard to bring people together to address the challenges we face and I know that he will continue to do so in service of the people of the First District, which is why I’m proud to support him.”
“Chris’s country over party leadership in Congress will help restore America’s standing and leadership – both abroad and at home,” said Betty Tamposi, a Republican who served in the George H.W. Bush administration as a diplomat and State Representative. “He is a champion for legislation that reduces our dependence on other countries for vitally important PPE and other goods, in addition to taking a strong stand against human rights abuses abroad. Chris has been and will continue to be a strong advocate for the people of New Hampshire, and for America’s interests in the world.”
“Chris knows New Hampshire and knows what New Hampshire businesses need to make it through this pandemic, keep their doors open, and thrive in the future,” said Donna Gaudet Hosmer, a Republican and small family owned business owner in Tilton. “I’m proud to be supporting him because Granite Staters know that party labels are not what’s important. What truly matters is if our Representatives know New Hampshire, know what our communities need, and will fight for us. That’s what Chris has done in Congress and what I know he will continue to do.”
“When you grow up in a family business like Chris and I have, you learn first hand that local businesses are cornerstones of our communities,” said Eric Goodwin, a former Republican and CEO of Goodwin Hospitality. “And along with that, you learn the importance of giving back and always investing in our communities. Chris brought those same values to Congress with him, and I’m proud to support him because I know he will continue to prioritize supporting our small businesses and investing in our communities in his second term.”
With Chris’s help the House has passed more than 275 bipartisan bills this session, and Chris has partnered with Republicans on 16 of the 34 bills he has introduced in his first term in Congress. He has also co-sponsored 69 Republican bills, six of which have been signed into law by the President.
Chris’s bipartisan work has delivered for New Hampshire on key priorities by:
Restoring $7.6 billion in federal transportation funding, including $37.8 million for New Hampshire – ensuring critical projects were able to continue and saving good-paying jobs.
Prompting the VA to repay $100 million in fees to veterans who participated in the VA Home Loan Program, including $660,000 to veterans in New Hampshire.
Working with the bipartisan PFAS task force to force a vote on major legislation to protect our drinking water when efforts to take on PFAS contamination stalled.
Expanding the benefits available to New Hampshire’s small businesses and workers during the COVID-19 pandemic – by cosponsoring the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act which was signed into law by the President and introducing the JOBS Credit Act of 2020 which would enhance the Employee Retention Tax Credit.
Making improvements to the new USMCA trade deal that ensured the deal would pass, and that it would benefit New Hampshire’s economy.
Passing three bipartisan COVID-19 relief packages to deliver aid directly Granite Staters during the ongoing pandemic – funding public health, enhancing unemployment benefits, safeguarding Medicaid benefits, strengthening food assistance programs, establishing an emergency paid leave program, creating the $150 billion Coronavirus Relief Fund which brought significant aid directly to New Hampshire, and creating the Paycheck Protection Program which saved more than 123,130 jobs in the First District.
Additionally, Chris has worked with leaders from all parties and all across New Hampshire to advocate for their needs during the COVID-19 pandemic – sending a letter advocating for direct aid for states and localities to House leadership and securing those funds in the Heroes Act.
