AG Identifies Newborn Whose Untimely Death Is Under Investigation

Concord, NH — Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald, Colonel Nathan A. Noyes of the New Hampshire State Police, and Claremont Police Chief Mark Chase announce further information regarding an active investigation involving the death of a child in Claremont, New Hampshire.

Claremont Police responded to a 911 call from a residence on Winter Street in Claremont at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2020. Once at the residence, police found Samara Hutnick (7 days old) who was in medical distress, and who was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

On August 24, 2020, New Hampshire’s Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie Duval completed the autopsy of Samara Hutnick. At this time, the cause and manner of death are being withheld pending further investigation.

Additional information will be released while maintaining the integrity of the investigation.
