CONCORD — Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Christopher J. Wagner, and Sandown Police Chief Joseph Gordon announce that an arrest has been made in connection with the suspicious death investigation in Sandown.

At approximately 1:00 a.m. Wednesday Sandown police responded to 48 Phillipswood Road in Sandown to a report of a deceased female.  The female has been identified as Aline Irish, age 88. An autopsy was conducted today on Ms. Irish’s body by New Hampshire’s Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Jennie Duval.

Dr. Duval determined that the cause of Ms. Irish’s death was blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of her death was homicide.

Patrick Irish, age 42, was arrested this evening on alternative counts of Second Degree Murder that allege he knowingly and recklessly caused Ms. Irish’s death by inflicting blunt force trauma to her head, under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life. Patrick Irish was living at the Phillipswood Road address with his grandmother, Aline Irish.

Mr. Irish is expected to be arraigned on December 12, 2019 at the Rockingham County Superior Court in Brentwood, NH.

The charges and allegations are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The investigation remains ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available, while protecting the integrity of the investigation.  Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Sergeant Kelly Healey of the New Hampshire State Police at 603-628-8477.
