Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald and Newmarket Police Chief Kyle True announce that Jennifer Bonner, age 38, of Newfields, pleaded guilty today in Rockingham County Superior Court to selling fentanyl that caused the death of Christopher Marmat, age 39, of Newmarket.
At the sentencing hearing, the State requested that Ms. Bonner be sentenced to 10-20 years in the New Hampshire State Prison with 3 years of the minimum sentence suspended for 20 years. The court imposed a sentence of 3-8 years at the New Hampshire State Prison with 9 months suspended.
Consequently, Ms. Bonner will serve 27 months for the death of Mr. Marmat. On January 9, 2017, Mr. Marmat arranged to purchase heroin from Ms. Bonner. After meeting
with Mr. Marmat in Portsmouth, Ms. Bonner proceeded to Lawrence, Mass., where
she purchased one gram of what she believed to be heroin. Ms. Bonner then brought the drug back to New Hampshire and sold it to Mr. Marmat in Newmarket. Mr. Marmat used what he believed to be heroin. He was found deceased on his bed the next morning by his stepfather.
The autopsy and toxicological testing determined that Mr. Marmat died from a fentanyl
overdose. The resolution of this case was a result of the collaborative efforts of the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and the Newmarket Police Department.
