Shaheen Statement on Former FBI Director Robert Mueller Being Appointed As Special Counsel
(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement after Former FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein to serve as special counsel to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election:
“Former FBI Director Mueller is widely respected and has had a distinguished career serving his country under Republican and Democratic administrations,” said Shaheen. “This is very encouraging news and his appointment should go a long way towards depoliticizing the investigation into Russia’s unprecedented interference in our election. We owe it to the American people to get to the bottom of this.”
