Today, April 27 at noon: Shaheen to Deliver Keynote Speech on Russia’s Attack on Democracy And How the United States Should Aggressively Respond

Today at noon at the Center for American Progress Action Fund (CAP Action), Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), the only woman on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, will deliver keynote remarks on Russia’s sustained attacks on our democracy and the need for the United States to implement an aggressive strategy to fight back.

U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-NH

Senator Shaheen’s remarks will be followed by a question and answer session with CAP Action President and CEO Neera Tanden. During her remarks, Senator Shaheen will put Russia’s interference in American democracy in a broader geopolitical context and outline a response to counter the Kremlin’s strategy, in concert with our European allies. Senator Shaheen’s remarks will be webcast here.

Senator Shaheen has been an outspoken critic of President Putin’s authoritarian regime and was the first in Congress to call for hearings on Russian interference in the 2016 elections. She has recently cosponsored bipartisan legislation to enhance sanctions on Russia and to investigate RT News, which intelligence reports claim operates as a propaganda outlet for the Russian government.

Members of the press who wish to attend can RSVP here. A webcast will be available here.
