Wednesday in Lincoln: Shaheen Will Team Up With Former NFL Player & NH Athletic Directors to Discuss Efforts to Protect Student Athletes From Substance Misuse
**Granite Stater and Former NFL player Jeff Hatch will share his own experience overcoming substance misuse**
**Later in Monroe, Shaheen will tour Pete and Gerry’s Organics farm, a NH rural small business recognized for its sustainable and environmentally conscious business practices**
U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) will visit Lin-Wood Public School to speak with students and community leaders about her legislation aimed at preventing substance misuse among students and student athletes in Lincoln at 10:30 a.m.
The Student and Student Athlete Opioid Misuse Prevention Act would allow schools, communities, and youth athletic associations in the Granite State and around the country to provide prevention programs to reduce the risk of opioid misuse among students and student athletes. Shaheen will be joined by Jeff Hatch, a former NFL player who will share his story about his struggles with substance misuse, as well as New Hampshire high school and collegiate athletic directors, the program director of the NHIAA Life of an Athlete program, and the director of CADY, the Plymouth based Communities for Alcohol and Drug-free Youth.
Later in the day, Shaheen will tour Pete and Gerry’s Organics farm and production facility and discuss the benefits and challenges of running a rural small business in Monroe at 2:00 p.m. Shaheen is the Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee and has worked to protect Granite State farmers and boost New Hampshire’s agricultural sector.
