A 21-year-old Vermont man was rescued from Mt. Washington Friday after he injured his leg skiing, according to Matt Holmes of New Hampshire Fish and Game.

Holmes said Maxwell Forbes of Burlington called for help about 1:20 p.m., telling Fish and Game he had fallen while backcountry skiing near the Mount Washington Cog Railway.

Forbes reported he was unable to continue and provided GPS coordinates and a detailed description of his location.

Fish and Game reached him with a snowmobile and found Forbes and his companion had used their own first-aid equipment to stabilize the leg. He reached the base of the mountain by 3:10 p.m. and chose to be driven in a private vehicle to a hospital.
